CITY OF WOMEN: REFLECTING 2019/2020
new publication

Fresh edition of the "City of Women: Reflecting 2019/2020", anthology, containing our reflections on the key highlights of last year’s festival and season, has been published!

The publication was drafted in the period of the pandemic that took over one third of the world and as such addresses the necessity for social change – first of all, for fundamental universal justice, as the editor Tea Hvala suggests in her introduction. She has divided the anthology into three thematic scopes: recognition, representation and redistribution. Their inter-relations are discussed by female curators, artists and theoreticians, the guests of the 25th City of Women festival, as well as our “regularly irregular” interlocutors from the fields of feminist curatorship, advocacy, activism and education.

The publication brings to completion the 2019/20 season and simultaneously introduces the new season of City of Women.

Printed Publication is available with us. For a free copy contact: pr@cityofwomen.org

INTRODUCING: CORNEOUS STORIES

Corneous Stories is an interdisciplinary and intergenerational artistic research project that reveals surprising links between different work regimes, migrations, genders, social classes, identities and their aesthetic coding, as well as connections of the chemical, film, auto and war industries with forced labor, exoticism, marginalization and racism. Departing from an artistic research and art collective initiated in 2018 in Berlin (n * a * i * l * s hacks facts fictions), Corneous Stories opens up and further develops towards a sedimentary historical experience from the Southeast European perspective.

The project includes a fieldwork research phase led by Katja Kobolt, a four months transdisciplinary research with and by students of various faculties (in the frame of ŠIPK program), four creative workshops with highschool students, new local and international artistic productions, an international group exhibition with a discursive program and a collective publication. The project is being developed within the European project Be Part and will be presented to the public at the 26th International Festival of Contemporary Arts - City of Women (Ljubljana, October 2020).

Partners and producers: City of Women, Goethe Institute - Slovenia, University of Ljubljana - The Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Škuc GalleryDistrict Berlin.
