Ann-Sofie Öman on Diamonds and Toads by The Girls

The girls have names, but objects like the two female bodies on the bizarre live double lit de parade, are not introduced with identifiable properties like names. They are quite simply The Girls.

The names of the women who are hiding under the masks and all the glittering and disgusting stuff and fabric, are the English artists Zerelda Sinclair and Andrea Blood. I find it important to tell that.

The only sign of life that they are conveying during the live installation was the moving eyes, watching the specatators' every move intensely. Who's Zelda and who's Andrea is impossible to tell.

For a moment I get a picture of patients lying on the surgeon's operating table, completely covered with sterilized fabric, except where the surgeon is to make his incision.

They are like etherized patients on a table, or Rohypnol drugged women soon to become rape victims. Or just very obedient good girls. It's frightening.

Stop being obedient good girls. Please.
