Exhibition and presentation of
ACTART
International Youth Exchange
Opening December 2nd, 18.00, open until December 7th / DobraVaga
In 2019, City of Women collaborated in the ACTART project in the framework of the Erasmus+ programme. Together with the K-zona association (Croatia) and the Organization for Promotion of Activism OPA (Project Femix, Serbia), we have prepared a youth exchange for nineteen young artists and activists from Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia.
At the exchange in Zagreb (from 30 September to 6 October), the participants discussed feminist and LGBT+ issues, focusing on contemporary, fresh ways to present their struggles for gender equality and LGBT+ recognition in the media as well as in local artivist scenes. At the same time, they created a number of artworks that critically address nationalism, the objectification of women, sexism and the many ways in which they affect the lives of marginalized people. Formally, their works relied on several media, from performance, sculpture and video to poetry, illustration and comics. They have published most of their works in the zine called Lapač. You can see the web version here, and download the printable PDF version here.
During the ACTART exchanged, the participating young artist and activists also made their collective Instagram profile, where they publish and exchange their new works. Their art as well as their newly acquired knowledge in contemporary technologies, media literacy, art events organization and activist (co-)operation was first presented at the Lapač exhibition held in Zagreb within the scope of the 13th Vox Feminae Festival. In November, the exhibition is moving to Belgrade. Between 2 and 7 December, it will be on view – in a different form and under a new title – at the DobraVaga gallery in Ljubljana.
Welcome to the opening of the Yugosluts exhibition and the simultaneous presentation of the ACTART youth exchange on Monday, 2 December 2019 at 6 p.m.
Free entrance.
