Waiting for the next October
Conclusion of the 25th City of Women
After two weeks of events we had concluded the celebration of 25 years of City of Women Festival. We joined a similar celebration of our sister International Festival of Computer Arts in Maribor.
We have hosted some of the most renowned European and Slovenian names of contemporary art on the festival. While we celebrated the past, we were looking into the future - hosting young artists and collectives who are pushing the boundaries of what seems possible in art.
We are proud that we received Princess Margriet Award for Culture by European Cultural Foundation in Amsterdam during the festival. You can read more about the award ceremony, along with the acceptance speech by City of Women.
We cannot imagine our festival without numerous volunteers, visitors, supporters, partners and journalists from Slovenia and abroad, who have faithfully supported City of Women. Thank you for your wonderful support!
"This year's two-weeks long festival saw
the collaboration of 30 local and 20 international partners. We held events in
Ljubljana, Maribor and Zagreb.We hosted more than 160 artists, producers and
theoreticians from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Hungary, Austria,
Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands, England, Poland, Denmark, Russia, Japan
and United States. great interest by the audience proves, that topic and
questions of feminism, gender, and social, political and gender equality are as
important as ever. It almost seems, that we need City of Women more than we did
25 years ago.
