Marija Mojca Pungerčar - Socialdress service
Workshop
In 2006 the artist and sewing activist, Marija Mojca Pungerčar designed the project Socialdress based on thematic sewing workshops (socialdress.net). The term “social dress” refers to clothing which has an integrative effect within the community. Over the six years of its duration, the Socialdress project was introduced at a number of local venues, as well as in Romania, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. At the City of Women Festival the project will be presented in the context of the international collaborative project Crisis, what Crisis? with two new theme workshops. The first, called Blossoms in Autumn is aimed at intergenerational cooperation and will take place at the Festival of the Third Age at Cankarjev dom and at Elderly Day Activity Centre Šiška. The second, Socialdress Service, offers assistance in everyday situations when a favourite piece of clothing “gets damaged”. At the workshop held in Škuc Gallery zippers will be replaced, buttons sewn, pants shortened, skirts lengthened and vice versa. It is anticipated that you will be able to order the Socialdress service clothes repair shop at home. (Marija Mojca Pungerčar)
