Régine Debatty
Régine Debatty one of the first full-time bloggers who tries to make living exclusively by blogging. She is the art critic, reporter and contemporary post-journalist who always has some unpredictable commentary or smart question up her sleeve. Debatty is the author of a highly acclaimed and extremely well read blog portal we-make-money-not-art.com where she and her colleagues write about the interaction between art, design and technology. She also works as a new media curator, and has been invited to a number of conferences and festivals to lecture on art, hacking and design (ab)uses of technology.
As a guest of the COWeb platform - City of Women Goes Web - Régine Debatty will write a blog and hold a lecture aimed at COWeb group of writers as well as broader public, allowing them to learn about her blogging experience, how to write - and make a living from writing - and what it is that determines a world famous blogger.
Before becoming a blogger, Régine Debatty studied classical philology in Belgium and England, and was a teacher of Latin and Ancient Greek. She later became interested in media, and directed documentary films for Belgium state television, reported for Onda Cero - a Spanish radio station - and worked in Italy as a consultant for the European Commission’s MEDIA programme.
